Martha Goruk

It is with profound sadness that Martha Goruk, who was born in Barich, AB on February 20, 1939, has passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on January 30, 2026 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Martha has entered the Kingdom of Heaven into the arms of her daughter Barbara, her husband Phil, her parents Steve and Rose, stepmother Katie, brothers Roman, Henry, Robert, sister Nancy, brothers-in-law Andy and Clarence and sister-in-law Henia.
Martha is survived by her devoted children Gary and Sandra, son-in-law Dieter and her pride and joy, her 4 grandchildren: Carter, Nathan, Aidan and Emma. As well, she is survived by her sister Zoria, brothers Edward (Roseanne), Wayne (Doreen), sisters-in-law Carol (Bob), Shirley and her Godson Ken. She will also be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and so many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Martha was a care giver to her family her whole life. Her siblings, children, grandchildren and everyone who knew her benefited from her caring and kindness. She is famous for her crafts, baking and giving nature. Martha’s strong will and work ethic has been passed on!
Her presence will be missed at her beloved Moose Cottage at the Red Deer Regional Hospital where she served patients and family members with her delicious baking for the past 10 years. The perogie pinchers of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church will miss her terribly and are so grateful for her knowledge and leadership.
A service will be held on February 9th at the Marquis room in the Harvest Centre at 1:00 pm, located in the Westerner Park. The address is 4847A 19th Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 2N7.
