GORDON ALVIN REIMER
Gordie was born on December 20, 1944 in Olds, Alberta. He went to his heavenly home on January 19, 2026. Growing up in Didsbury along with his brothers Earl and Norman, the family established a business in the milk hauling industry, later adding gravel and concrete. After completing high school in Didsbury, Gordie attended a semester at Cascade College in Oregon, majoring in drama and public speaking before having to return home to take over his father’s business. Soon after, he developed and patented the Reimer Mobile Mixer, and later embarked on the international marketing of the machine. Despite being a world traveler, his heart remained close to home, where he was involved in the Didsbury Missionary Church and established the Reimer’s Red Army hockey club where he proudly donned the #3 as a defenseman. His passion for southern gospel music enabled him to host large music events in the area. His love for family was evident in the Reimer family reunions, in raising his daughters and in enjoying time with the grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Jean (Dedels) of almost 57 years, daughters Marla (Zac) Barham and Anita Reimer, grandchildren Lane Young, Erin (Chase) Alderman, Evie (Jahbari) Fernandez, great grandson Amias Tavion Fernandez, brother Norman (JoLynn) Reimer, nephews Tony, Ted (Sandra), Brent (Andrea), Brad (Liz) Reimer and niece Cassie (Darcy) Marquart, along with 8 great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Walter, his mother Mary, brother Earl and sister-in-law Carlye. He will be fondly remembered by relatives and friends as a successful businessman, a pillar in the community, a generous soul with a humorous streak.
A celebration of life will be held at Zion Evangelical Missionary Church in Didsbury on Sunday, February 15th at 2:00. p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Zion Evangelical Missionary Church would be greatly appreciated.
