To everything there is a season: a time to be born and a time to die. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Maurice Walter Tomlinson (Also known as Bud) of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the age of 81 years.
Bud was born on Father’s Day, June 18th, 1944, in Oliver, British Columbia. As the first boy in a family of ten children, he was his father’s “little buddy” from the start.
He grew up in British Columbia, cherishing his time in Rock Creek and the Osoyoos Valley. Early in life, Bud entered the logging industry, starting by pulling chains and eventually owning his own logging truck. He loved driving his Hayes truck, hauling logs from the mountains to the mills a job that suited his hardworking spirit perfectly.
Over the years, Bud travelled, worked, and lived in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. He hauled logs, built roads, did construction, and took on various other jobs. He also enjoyed working on vehicles and building stock cars as a hobby.
In recent years, Bud settled in Alberta, where he loved being outdoors, mowing and tending his yard, and tinkering with his collection of lawn mowers and other treasures.
Maurice (Bud) is survived by his son; Morris (Isabell) Tomlinson; grandchildren Alesha, Angela (Jesse), and Brandon; great-granddaughter Madelyn; siblings Randy, John, Lynn, Marj, Louise, Susan, and Michelle and their families; and dear friend Linda.
He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Betty Tomlinson; brothers Ken and Tom; his son’s mother, Margaret; nephew Derrick; and grand-niece Callie.
Bud’s gentle, caring, and giving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear Maurice (Bud).
A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced.
