TUCKER, Judy
1945 – 2026
Judy Theresa Tucker, of Glennifer Lake, Alberta, formerly Donalda, Alberta, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026 in Red Deer, Alberta, surrounded by all of her immediate family. She was 80 years old.
Judy was born on November 10, 1945 in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Matilda “Tillie” Theresa Paul (née Sitter) and Everett Melvin Paul (formerly Pauhl). She grew up on a farm in Millarville, Alberta and carried the values of farm life with her throughout her life. As the eldest child, Judy played a central role in helping raise her sister and five younger brothers, a responsibility she took on with strength, steadiness, and quiet care.
She later moved to a farm near Donalda, Alberta, with her parents, where farm life and family remained at the centre of everything she did. Judy was deeply grounded in the rhythms of rural life and was known for her strong work ethic, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those she loved. Family was always her priority, and she maintained close, thoughtful connections throughout her life, often through letters and emails that reflected her genuine interest in others.
Bryan and Judy met and fell in love in 1963 and went on to farm in Donalda, Alberta, on the Tucker Farm for thirty years. In 2003, they began enjoying retired life at Gleniffer Lake Resort & Country Club during the summers, and for more than thirty winters, they made their second home at ViewPoint RV & Golf Resort. In both places, they formed lasting friendships and became part of close, welcoming communities, something that mattered deeply to Mom, while always remaining closely tied to family and friends who lived in Canada and abroad. Those years reflected Judy’s ability to make everyone she connected with feel welcome and created a sense of home in every place she lived.
Distance never weakened Judy’s connection with her family; she shared almost daily FaceTime conversations with her son, Terry and remained in constant contact with her daughter, Debbie, reflecting the closeness and steady presence she offered her children throughout her life. In recent years, Debbie was by her side every step of the way, providing steady care and support as Judy faced health challenges.
Together, Judy and Bryan shared a deep love of travel and time spent outdoors. Over the years, they travelled extensively through Africa, South America, Australia, Asia, and Europe. Judy always took a genuine interest in the people they met and the lives they encountered while also spending countless days closer to home camping, quadding in the Rockies, water and snow skiing, and enjoying time at Buffalo and Shuswap Lake. Judy took a deep interest in the places they visited, including numerous gold and zinc mining projects on four continents connected to Terry’s work, and loved to share those experiences and stories with family. That spirit of curiosity, adventure, and togetherness helped shape a family that continues to travel widely across generations.
Judy was loving, kind, and quietly strong. She was a steady presence, supportive, practical, and deeply caring person who made others feel included and valued. Those who knew her speak of her warmth, laughter, and ability to offer comfort simply by being herself.
In a handwritten note to her family, Judy (Mom) asked us to stay connected, to laugh, sing, and dance together, and to take our time: sentiments that reflected how she lived her life.
Judy is survived by her husband, Bryan Lee Tucker; her children, Terry Lee Tucker of Zürich, Switzerland, and Debbie Lynne Froese of Cochrane, Alberta; and her grandchildren, Jaydon Lee Pearce Froese, Kiana Alexandra Froese, and Joshua Paul Froese. She is also fondly remembered by Debbie’s husband, Peter Froese, Terry’s partner, Krystian Pawel Majcher, and Kiana’s partner, Zachary Jason Jeffery Buehler, and by Timber and Yogi, who knew her as Grandma.
She is also survived by her siblings, Susan Anne Scott (Rick), Randy Kenneth Paul (Pat), David Louis Paul (Wendy), and Wayne Henry Paul (Nancy); and by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Tillie and Everett Paul, and by her brother, Lloyd Basil Paul and is survived by his wife, Gloria.
A gathering to celebrate Judy’s life will be held in the summer of 2026, with details shared via social media and direct contact. She will be remembered at the Donalda Cemetery, where a headstone will be placed.
