Darlene Marion Lasiuta

Darlene Marion Lasiuta (nee Varga) passed into the arms of her saviour on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 83 years.
Born on June 28, 1942, in St. Benedict, Saskatchewan to Tony and Anne Varga, she attended school in St. Benedict and Humboldt where she graduated in 1959. In Saskatoon, she took secretarial classes and worked at Soo Security Motorways. Darlene wed Edward Lasiuta (of Saskatoon) on August 18th,1962 living in Swan Hills, Barrhead, Trochu, Torrington, St. Brieux, Denzil, Paddle Prairie, Little Buffalo, Wabasca-Desmarais before retiring to Red Deer in 2007.
Darlene and Ed had three children, Timothy, Michael and Glenn. Darlene worked as a librarian, school secretary, substitute and piano teacher. Wherever she lived, she was involved in the community CWL, Ladies and Lioness clubs, Royal Purple and church groups.
After Ed passed, Darlene moved to Aspen Ridge in 2020 where she settled in quickly and made many friends. Her apartment was filled with memories and many Emeralds dance parties.
Darlene leaves behind her loving family Tim (Karen) Lasiuta, Mike (Darlene) Lasiuta, Glenn Lasiuta (Tannis) Braconnier Lasiuta; grandkids Amanda (Jeremy) Lasiuta Rinas, Geoffrey Lasiuta, Natasha (Nathan) Scott, Joshua Lasiuta, Shawn Lasiuta, Dylan Lasiuta, Kian Sweeting, Porter Sweeting, Ireland (Brogen) Sweeting, Vaughn Sweeting, Gray Lasiuta as well as six great grandchildren, Bryelle, Benjamin, Jackson, Waylon, Eden and Ophelia to remember her. She will be missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, the Ronald McDonald House or Make a Wish Foundation. Also, in memory of Darlene, you are invited to plant a tree or flower anywhere and say a prayer.
