On Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, Gwendolyn Joan Hunter, our beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother completed her earthly journey and went to Heaven. Her daughter, Linda, was at her bedside. Gwen passed from this life at Covenant Care, Villa Marie in Red Deer, Alberta.

Gwen was born in Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario in 1933 to Richard and Florence. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Hunter, the mother of Linda, the grandmother of Kristofer (Twila), Michael (Ayano) and Andrew (Marianna) and the great grandmother of Milai, Greyson, Madeline, Hayden and Molly. Family meant everything to Gwen. She was loving with a quiet and gentle devotion.

Her interests included cooking and baking, gardening, genealogy, knitting and embroidering, sewing, and reading. All of these were done with excellence.

A memorial service will be held in the near future to celebrate Gwen’s life.

The family would like to thank everyone at Covenant Care, Villa Marie for the care and love that was given to Gwen.

Death takes the body. God takes the soul. Our mind holds the memories. Our heart keeps the love. Our faith lets us know we will meet again.
