Red Deer RCMP remind drivers of icy intersections
Red Deer RCMP Traffic Section is reminding local drivers to slow down and exercise caution at roadway intersections.
With the warmer daytime temperatures of late, Mounties note that snow is melting during the day and freezing into the night, causing icy road conditions. Police say intersections are particularly a hazard as traction is reduced and the possibility of collisions increases.
Sgt. Brian Herrick of the Red Deer RCMP Traffic Section says, “the risk of intersection collisions increases when pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists converge. Drivers should be aware of the risks, watch their speed, make proper left turns. Be sure to fully stop at stop signs and obey all traffic signals.”
