It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Peter Giesbrecht at 11:00pm on Dec 31,2025.
Peter was born on July 29,1936 and grew up in Lowe Farm, Manitoba working hard on the family farm. He left the farm as a young man to pursue a career in automotive mechanics in Calgary, Alberta. This led him into a career with Amoco, constructing gas plants in all the “hot” spots of Alberta. His innovativeness and forward thinking was renowned throughout the oilpatch.
Peter met his wife Marion on a blind date and they have been married since 1960. He was always up for a good time with family and friends, telling stories into the wee hours. Peter was the rock of the family with great relationships with nieces, nephews and grandkids.
A highlight for their family was spending 3 years in Cairo, Egypt in the late 1970’s. Many lifelong friendships were established there. As you can imagine, the experience was a significant bonding experience being that far from home in a foreign country.
Peter spent close to 20 years in Red Deer leaving in 2019, to move to Rimbey, Alberta. He resided in Longterm care in Rimbey and definitely kept the staff on their toes with his good nature and sense of humour.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Marion, daughter Celeste, son Roger, respective spouses, grandkids and great grandkids.
