Mr. Ronald Charles Bradley passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the age of 66 years. Ron was born on December 21, 1959, in Innisfail, Alberta, to Opal and Jim Bradley. As a baby, Ron lived with his family in the Gwendale, Alberta area before moving to a farmhouse in the Kevisville, Alberta area. In 1967, the family settled in Markerville, Alberta, a place that would become Ron’s lifelong home. He lived there for nearly fifty-nine years and remained deeply connected to the community he loved. Ron attended John Wilson Elementary School in Innisfail, Alberta for his early education and completed his senior school years in Spruceview, Alberta, graduating in 1979. He later attended Red Deer College, where he took a Business Management course. It was during this time that Ron began one of his proudest accomplishments, the creation of the Boy Scout Museum. The collection was proudly displayed in an area attached to the former post office, which was operated by his mother, Opal, for twenty-one years. Ron devoted countless hours to preserving Scouting history, showcasing an extensive collection of badges, pins, uniforms, photos, documents, sashes, and memorabilia of every kind. Ron was an author and poet who wrote many poems throughout his life. His talent earned him recognition, including prize winnings at the Red Deer Westerner. He was an active member of West Country Writers Inc. He looked forward to the meetings at the Spruceview Drop-In Centre, where he enjoyed collaborating with fellow writers and publishing a variety of books. A passionate historian and collector, Ron loved memorabilia, old stories, family history, and sharing his knowledge with others. His interests were wide-ranging and included movies, books, Boy Scouts, Marvel, and coins. The effort, care, and time he dedicated to collecting, especially in preserving Scouting history, was truly commendable. During his working years, Ron worked alongside his father, sharing the responsibilities of wire lining. He also helped his grandparents on the family farm located just outside Raven, Alberta. Ron also worked delivering the Innisfail Province newspaper (now The Albertan) to several central Alberta communities, including Penhold, Spruceview, and Markerville – a job he truly enjoyed. Ron loved visiting, laughing, and sharing stories with others. In Markerville, he was always willing to help the community. He regularly checked on the church and during the summer months volunteered to cut grass for the Hamlet of Markerville. This small community was Ron’s heart and soul. He knew its history and its people well, having been there for so long. Fellow residents affectionately referred to him as “The Sheriff” – a true honor, as every community needs one.
If you saw Ron, you often saw his younger brother, Brian, close by. The two shared a deep and unbreakable bond and were rarely apart. Brian was a huge part of Ron’s life, always there for him, not only as a brother, but as a constant source of support for Ron’s passions and visions.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his loving mother, Opal Bradley, and his brother, Brian Bradley. He was predeceased by his father, Jim Bradley. Ron will be remembered for his big smile, great conversation, generosity, creativity, dedication to history, and unwavering love for the community of Markerville. His presence, knowledge, and kindness will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at the Fensala Hall, 24 Main Avenue, Markerville, Alberta on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Ron’s honor may be made to the Stephan J.
