Rebels complete two trades
The Red Deer Rebels announced a pair of trades in advance of the 6 p.m. MT WHL Trade Deadline on Jan. 8, 2026.
The Rebels have acquired 20-year-old forward Tyson Yaremko from the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft (via Moose Jaw).
Team officials say Yaremko, who is from Saskatoon, SK, was selected by the Swift Current Broncos in round four, 68th overall at the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. In 106 career games – all but one of them with Portland – he has 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists). He appeared in 12 games this season with the Winterhawks, collecting two goals and an assist.
The Rebels have also acquired a fourth-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft (via Vancouver) and a fourth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for 18-year-old forward Ty Coupland. Team officials say the North Vancouver, BC native appeared in 63 games with the Rebels after being acquired last season from the Swift Current Broncos and had 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists).
