Jessy Dakota Mayne
February 6, 1987 – December 8, 2025
38 Years of Age.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jessy Dakota Mayne on December 8, 2025, in Red Deer County, Alberta, due to a car accident. He was 38 years old.
Born on February 6, 1987, in Red Deer, Alberta, Jessy lived a life marked by curiosity, craftsmanship, and unwavering devotion to his family. From an early age, he worked alongside his father, Tony Mayne, building houses, a foundation that not only shaped his skills but also instilled in him a lifelong love for hands-on work and problem-solving.
Jessy’s educational journey reflected his drive to master whatever he set his mind to. He attended Red Deer College for Heavy Duty Mechanics and earned his Red Seal certification. Never one to stop learning, he challenged the automotive exam in 2023 and proudly earned his Automotive Service Technician ticket. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, what he didn’t know, he would study until he did.
His career path was as diverse as it was impressive. While helping build homes with his dad, Jessy also pursued massage therapy and became certified with a specialization in shoulders and back. He later ventured into oil field work before finding his true calling in mechanics. Jessy began at Key Ag Kubota in Red Deer and went on to work at Cervus Bobcat, Kirk’s Tire, and Future Ag in Olds. He gained valuable automotive experience at Caltech in Olds before returning to Future Ag, where he was most recently employed.
Jessy’s mechanical expertise was widely respected, he was known as the go-to person when something needed fixing or diagnosing. Whether it was sharpening blades with precision (a skill he began honing at just four years old), restoring sentimental vehicles like his dad’s dually truck, or simply offering advice to fellow mechanics and friends alike. Jessy’s knowledge and generosity left a lasting impression.
He met the love of his life in 2009 on a Valentine’s Day snowboarding trip. They were married on September 12, 2020, and together built a beautiful family. The family began with their fur baby Hailie (Boston Terrier) and then in 2020 they added Bourbon and Whiskey (rescue mixed pups) and in 2021 welcoming their son, Huxley Mayne, and their daughter, Cassidy Mayne, in 2024. In the coming year, they would have celebrated 17 years together and 6 years of marriage, a testament to a love that continues to live on.
Beyond his professional life, Jessy had a rich array of interests that showcased his adventurous spirit and thoughtful nature. He found peace and challenge in hunting and target practice, appreciating the patience and concentration they required. He loved quading through mountain trails and mudding, activities that allowed him to push boundaries while reconnecting with nature. Turning wrenches on his own vehicles was more than a hobby; it was therapy
Jessy’s athleticism shone through during his six years playing lacrosse in Red Deer and Edmonton, participating in both box and field formats. His talent earned him a spot on the Alberta Elite Field team for two years. After his time as a player, he gave back to the sport by refereeing younger players and serving as an assistant coach for two years on a peewee team.
Family meant everything to Jessy. He was deeply proud of his wife and children, always eager to share photos or videos of their latest adventures or milestones. The last seven months of his life were spent on disability leave due to a knee injury, but this unexpected pause became a cherished blessing. It gave him precious time at home to play with his kids and create lasting memories with those he loved most.
Jessy’s sentimental side was evident in the way he treasured birthday cards or held onto meaningful heirlooms like his grandfather’s gun. He had an unmatched sense of humour, often inappropriate but always perfectly timed, and could light up any room with laughter. His strong hands were legendary; even holding hands could be unintentionally intense, a testament to both his physical strength and tender spirit.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Candice Mayne; children Huxley and Cassidy Mayne; mother Marlene Seniuk-Mayne; siblings Robin Mayne, Cody (Diarmuid) Kelly (niece Emma, and Finn Kelly), Jacqueline Mayne, Billi Mayne, and Colton Mayne; and many others whose lives he touched with generosity, humor, and heart.
Jessy was predeceased by his father Tony Mayne; grandfather Graham Mayne; and grandmother Patricia Mayne.
A private celebration of life will be held by invitation
May the memory of Jessy Dakota Mayne bring comfort to all who knew him—a man whose hands built homes, fixed engines, held memories close, and embraced life fully.
