ENDED: Blowing snow advisory issued for Red Deer and central Alberta
A blowing snow advisory has been issued for Red Deer and much of central Alberta.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, blowing snow and poor visibility will begin early Friday morning across central and eastern Alberta.
Officials say conditions will improve before noon around the Highway 2 corridor; meanwhile, visibility will improve near the Saskatchewan border by mid-afternoon.
The advisory states that travel will most likely be hazardous because of near-zero visibility and advises motorists to consider postponing non-essential travel until the weather improves. There may also be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.
