It is with deep sadness that the family of Gilbert Bauer announces his passing on December 15th, 2025, at the age of 91. 

Born in Craigmyle, Alberta, he eventually moved with his family to Rimbey area as a boy.  And as a young man left the family farm and moved to Red Deer in 1950. 

Gil loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting, gardening, always on the lookout for a nice rock.  He had a lifelong love of baseball and always enjoyed a good visit with family or friends.  He was a self-employed contractor, Gil Bauer Construction Ltd. For many years in the Central Alberta area and finally retired in 2002. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Bonnie Peressini (Bob) and Sandy Medori (Scott), 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce in 2017 and only son, Doug in 2013. 

A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring of 2026. 

The family is grateful for the care he had during his short months at The Hamlets and the compassion given to him in his last days in the Palliative Unit of the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
