Rebels fall to Wheat Kings in final game before Christmas break
The Red Deer Rebels were hoping for a Christmas miracle down by a goal late in the third period.
However, despite their best efforts, they were unable to find the equalizer in a 2-1 setback to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday evening for their fifth straight loss.
Head coach Marc Habscheid said it was a much-improved effort compared to Saturday’s 9-0 loss to the Calgary Hitmen.
“We thought the guys were much better connected, worked hard, competed, and just couldn’t bounce one in at the end there. It just didn’t want to go in, it was like there was a force field there or something,” he said. “I’m disappointed for the guys, the effort was good, but we’re here to win games, so it was disappointing.”
