STEVENSON, Desmond
1941 – 2025
Mr. Beverly Desmond Gomer “Des” Stevenson passed away at the Red Deer Hospital on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 84 years. Des was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on October 12, 1941. He earned his ticket as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and worked across the country, spending time on the pipeline in Ontario, and the Dempster Highway which spans between the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Known for his skill and steady work ethic, he later became a self-employed business owner, running Triple Oak, a tractor company, as well as Des Pressure Washing. He went on to work with Spongberg Enterprises Ltd. until his retirement. Throughout his life, Des lived in communities across Saskatchewan and Ontario, as well as in Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer. No matter where he lived, he found companionship and adventure through the Good Sam Club and the Alberta RVers, enjoying the camaraderie and freedom of life on the road. Des had many passions that filled his days with joy. He loved gardening, dancing, and reading, and he could often be found tinkering in his shop—his happy place—where he always had a project on the go.
Des is lovingly remembered by his son, Todd Sergeant (Corrina Valin); daughters, Michele Stevenson (John Bruijsters), and Angelia Leif (Carl Leif); grandsons Adam Leif (Kristi Burrell) and Dylan Leif; and many extended family members and dear friends. Des is predeceased by his loving wife, Doreen Stevenson; brother, Noel Stevenson; sister, Patricia Lambert; and parents, Howard and Violet Stevenson.
Des’s family will be holding a Private Life Celebration at a later date, and he will then rejoin his wife at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer County. If desired, Memorial Donations in Des’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca.
