With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Garry Keith Longacre on November 27, 2025 at the age of 87 years.
Garry was born to Lewis and Cleo Longacre making a quick and exciting entrance into the world in the back of the car. His spirit was contagious, always sharing a laugh and easy conversation with those around him. Throughout his life he was an active member of the community winning numerous curling awards, playing in men’s golf’s leagues, playing cards at the local hall and having a full social calendar with Laura. He excelled in his career as an electrician and loved to tinker and experiment. An avid outdoorsman he had many adventures with his family, fishing, camping, horse packing trips and on the farm. He took pride in his Black Angus Cattle farm; Wes Amber Acres, always claiming “black angus was the best”. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, nothing made him prouder than his family and being present in their lives. He will be greatly missed by many; Garry had a heart of gold and gentle soul that touched many in his lifetime.
Garry is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Laura (nee McKenzie) and his children, Rick (Janet) Longacre and Duncan (Cheryle) Longarce. Garry will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Wesley (Jill) and Amber (Cole); and great grandchildren Iylah, Ezlyn, Arkyn and Everyst as well as fondly remembered by numerous family members and friends, who meant the world to him.
Garry was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Cleo Longacre and brother Deryl (Maxine) Longacre.
The Longacre family would like to thank everyone who has reached out and kept our family in their thoughts. We were blessed to have such a wonderful person in our lives. We will miss his presence in our lives everyday.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Pioneer Lodge, 4324 – 46 A Ave, Red Deer, AB, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
