Edwin “Ed” Thomas Buziak passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on November 19, 2025 at the age of 76 years.
Ed was born in 1949 in Kelowna, BC, to Tom and Stella Buziak. Not long after they laid roots in the Whitkow / Mayfair, Sask area. Ed (AKA PAPA) loved school and being with friends. He was an avid broomball and fastball player, even into his adult years.
Ed graduated from Mayfair high school and soon after went to work in Ft. McMurry with his brother Ernie. When their mother passed away, Edwin came back to Whitkow to run the family store and help his dad in raising his younger brother Donnie. In 1978 he relocated to Lloydminster, where Ed and Jackie started their family.
Throughout his life Ed held many jobs – hauling fuel to farmers, oilfield, sport reporter, Department of Highway, owner of his hometown bar in Mayfair SK, Autobody Shop, Bus Driver, Used Car Sales lots, Equipment Operator and lastly owner (with partner) of Emtee Town – a Western town/museum and resort before retiring.
Ed was a lifelong game hunter and loved hunting with his son and grandchildren. He spent a lot of time in the bush as this was his favourite hobby. Ed loved to play cards with anyone who was up to the challenge, playing Crib and Kaiser throughout his life, this was something the whole family enjoyed.
Ed also loved hockey. He played a bit himself, but the love for it really took off when his son Chad started playing. Hockey was always on the TV in the family home.
In later years Ed enjoyed tinkering outdoors, fixing equipment, tools and vehicles, often doing this with old western music playing which he loved. He also grew to love gardening and took much pride in this.
Ed will be lovingly remembered by sons Chad (Jody), Zevin; daughter Vanessa (David); bonus daughter Ashliegh Tyndall; grandchildren, Brooke-Lynn, Brody, Joryn, Dax, Walker and Jacob and Nephew Ernie “Little Ernie” as well as numerous cousins and friends throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. To Ed, his family was his greatest joy and accomplishment.
He was predeceased by parents Tom and Stella Buziak; brothers Ernie and Donnie Buziak and sister-in-law Nora Buziak.
Papa will be missed tremendously; however, the family takes comfort in knowing that his parents and brothers were waiting for him with open arms. Gone from our presence but forever living in our hearts and memories. Ed will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“We love you PAPA”
