Building permit values in Red Deer decline in October

The City of Red Deer has reported that building permit values declined in October, but the year-to-date numbers remain high.

According to a media release from the city, building permits totalled $4.26 million in October this year, which is a decrease from the $12.49 million in October 2024.

Meantime, year-to-date permit values are strong. From January through October, the city issued 921 building permits, valued at $1.05 billion, compared to 1,020 permits worth $105.5 million during the same period last year.

Notable permits include:

  • Building permit for construction of six residential suites on the fourth floor of existing building at 3939 50A Avenue, valued at $750,000
  • Building permit for design build of a preschool at 6300 45 Avenue, valued at $400,000
  • Building permit for construction of a new multi-family attached building with eight units and attached decks at 6731 59 Avenue, valued at $397,000
  • Building permit for washroom renovations at Sorensen Station transit hub at 4830 48 Street, valued at $255,000
  • Building permit for construction of a new single-family detached dwelling with double attached garage at 6 Tillier Street, valued at $233,000
