ROBINSON, Darlene
1940 – 2025
Darlene Robinson (nee Riggins) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the age of 85 years.
Mom was born to Ellis and Mary Riggins on the family farm at Leo, Alberta in May of 1940. She was the seventh of twelve siblings. She met the love of her life, Bob Robinson, in Stettler, Alberta and they were married on June 9, 1961. Their son, Rob was born the following year in August of 1962, and daughter, Terisa was born in June of 1964. They lived all over the province finally settling in Red Deer in 1973.
Mom worked at AGT in Stettler as an operator, other jobs she worked at were in the Eaton’s Catalogue department in Whitecourt and Red Deer. When Dad went consulting, Mom did his office work for him. Her retirement job was working at the Cannery Row Bingo Hall where she made great friends. Her and Auntie Pat travelled many roads together, one of their favorite locations was the Oregan coast.
Mom had many hobbies and some of us were blessed to be on the receiving end of her talents. Paintings, quilts, sewing and porcelain dolls to name a few.
Darlene is lovingly remembered by her son, Robert ‘Rob’ (Diane Ford) Robinson, her daughter, Terisa (Steve) Matejka and her grandchildren, Adam (Cara), Ryan (Jalene), Brett (Ariel), four special great grandchildren and “adopted” daughter, Lorie Currah.
She is also deeply missed by her siblings Blanche, Jim, Viola (Smitty), Pat and Cheryll, her brothers-in-law, Roy (Delores), Dale (Linda), Marvin (Diane), and Larry (Lois), along with a very large extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert ‘Bob’, siblings, Shirely, Muriel, Donald and Monte, and brothers, Ranold and Gary passing away at young ages.
