Seasonal changes to green cart collection begin Nov. 10

The City of Red Deer announced that starting on Nov. 10, green cart collection will shift to every other week.
The seasonal change will run from Nov. 10 to March 30, where the green cart will be picked up on the same week as blue carts. The weekly pickup schedule will return in the spring when yard waste increases.
“As yard waste decreases through the winter months, adjusting Green Cart collection to every other week allows us to make the best use of resources while still providing reliable service for residents,” said Waste Diversion Specialist Marilyn Moore in a media release. “We appreciate the community’s continued efforts to properly sort materials and keep organics out of the landfill year-round.”
Updated calendars for cart collection can be found on reddeer.ca/cartcollection, and residents are encouraged to sign up for cart collection notifications.
