It is with deep sadness that the family of Mr. Alan Edward Johnson of Carstairs, Alberta, announces his passing on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 76 years.
Alan was born in Calgary to Huxley and Murial Johnson, the youngest of four children. In his early years, he developed a lifelong love of skiing, cars, and family. He attended the University of Calgary, where he earned degrees in Physical Education and Education, as well as an Administrative Diploma. It was there that he met the love of his life, Linda Carr. Alan and Linda were married in March 1972 and moved to the Carstairs area, where they raised their family.
Alan worked for many years as a physical education teacher, school administrator, and both a high school and elementary teacher. He was a dedicated coach and mentor who touched the lives of many. After retiring, Alan kept busy by substitute teaching, working at the golf course, woodworking, and volunteering at the library and with Didsbury Search and Rescue.
Alan was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He never missed a chance to share a laugh or an adventure. He loved running, hiking, trail riding, fishing, camping, hunting, and all forms of skiing. He was a man of strength, warmth, kindness, and had a deep love of togetherness.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; his children, Jeff (Jenny) Johnson and Lindsey (Camilo) Rostoker; his grandchildren, Gavin and Alec Johnson, Colton and Logan Rostoker; his sisters, Patti (Richard) Merkel and Mimi (Jim) Hogaboam; his brothers, Huxley Johnson and Ralph (Gwen) Hodgins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Alan’ s Life will be held at the Carstairs Community Hall, 1100 Lackner Way, Carstairs, Alberta on at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
