Sylvia Grace Goldhawk (née Winslow) of Lacombe, Alberta passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 71 years.
Sylvia was born on November 27, 1953, in Lacombe, Alberta, to Royal and Hazel Winslow. She grew up alongside her siblings Gary (Nellie), Gloria, and Marian (Garry Stewart).
From a young age, Sylvia’s faith was the foundation of her life. After accepting Christ as a child, she wasted no time sharing that joy with others—knocking on neighbours’ doors and telling them about Jesus. Her deep faith and kind heart guided her throughout her life.
Sylvia’s nickname, “Buzzy,” suited her perfectly—she was always on the go, busy doing the things she loved. She had a fearless, adventurous spirit and was happiest outdoors, helping her dad, working with her hands, or riding horses. She loved to push the limits, often giving her family a few good scares with her daring ways!
Sylvia had a natural curiosity and a wide range of interests. She had a strong love of automobiles and held many different jobs over the years, always diving into each new opportunity with enthusiasm and skill. Her woodworking talent was remarkable—she could craft beautiful things without measurements, relying entirely on instinct and creativity.
Though Sylvia never had children of her own, her heart overflowed with love for others—especially children. She often said there were already plenty of kids in the world who needed to be loved, and she made it her mission to do just that. She taught her nieces and nephews to ride bikes, skate, and enjoy the outdoors, filling their lives with laughter, patience, and encouragement.
Animals, especially cats, held a special place in Sylvia’s heart. She had a lifelong compassion for strays, often taking them in and giving them the love and home they deserved. Her house was always a place of warmth—for both people and pets alike.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Norman Goldhawk; her brother; her sister, and many nieces; nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who adored her. She was predeceased by her parents, Royal and Hazel Winslow, and her younger sister, Marian.
Sylvia will be remembered for her big heart, her creativity, her love of nature and animals, and her unwavering faith. She lived her life with purpose, humour, and kindness—and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to touch the lives of all who knew her.
