1948 – 2025
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mr. Robert ‘Glen’ Hainstock at the University of Alberta Hospital, in Edmonton, Alberta with his family by his side, on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the age of 77 years. Glen was born on January 12, 1948 in Russell, Manitoba, grew up in Burns Lake and Terrace, British Columbia. Glen moved to Red Deer in the early’70’s. He loved his sports, especially cheering for the “Edmonton Oilers”, playing soccer, golf and darts. He was an excellent crib player “see one, play one”. Glen was always whistling a tune no matter what he was doing. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces, travelled Alberta on a paving crew for Border Paving and was a heavy-duty mechanic for over thirty-five years. Glen will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty nine years, Judith ‘Buzz’; his son, Wade Smith (Patty) of Utah; his daughters, Paula ZoBell (Wardell) of Lacombe, and Lisa ‘Pal’ Hainstock (Leo) of Calgary; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by two brothers, six sisters as well as numerous family members in Canada and England and his dear friends near and far. Glen was predeceased by his older brother, Gary; his daughter, Kari-Lynn and grandson, Logan. At Glen’s request, no formal service will be held.
