It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joan Clara Taylor (nee Bennett) of Carstairs, Alberta, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the age of 79 years. Joan was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, and it was there she met and married the love of her life Gary Taylor, just a month after her 20th birthday in 1966. In 1979 the family moved west to Calgary, Alberta and Joan and Gary enjoyed twenty-four years together before his passing in June of 2003. Following Gary’s passing Joan relocated to Carstairs, Alberta to be closer to her grandchildren and was proud to be part of their lives. Joan was a passionate and extremely talented quilter and belonged to the quilting group “Threads of Kindness” for many years, and was well known for donating quilts to shelters, hospitals and Victims Services. Joan enjoyed and took great pride in those activities. She also enjoyed other hobbies such as card making as well as scrap booking. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her children; Dave Taylor, Jennifer Bennett (Darcy), Heather Madden (Lance); her cherished grandchildren Steven Taylor and Alexandra Taylor. Joan was predeceased by her husband Gary.
On Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Joan’s Family will be welcoming all who wish to pay their respects or share stories with her family at 664 Macewan Drive, Carstairs, Alberta as it was Joan’s wish not to have a formal Funeral Service. We will have some of Joans’ Amazing quilts and Scrapbooks on display
