Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce looks to fill vacant board positions

The Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce has launched a board recruitment campaign as they look to fill three vacant board positions by the end of October.

They’re also hoping to add a total of seven new members to complete the full board, according to board chair Blaine Staples.

“But at the very least, we are looking to fill the current three vacancies so that the important work we have underway can continue successfully,” Staples said. “This is an important time for the communities the Innisfail Chamber serves – there will be newly elected municipal governments, there are growing opportunities along the Highway 2 corridor, and there are new businesses starting up throughout the area. Ensuring we have a strong business community will have a huge impact.”

The members of the Chamber’s board of directors are elected for three-year terms and are required to attend one monthly board meeting, participate on a chamber board committee, and regularly attend chamber events throughout the year.

The Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce is affiliated with the Alberta Chamber of Commerce network, which provides effective advocacy to all three levels of government in the province.

“Being a Board member expands that influence even further and can help shape an entire community. Ensuring the success of local businesses creates a far-reaching impact for the business owners, the people they employ and all of their families. When the business community is vibrant, it creates steady employment and entices individuals and families to the area. That, in turn, influences the health and wellness of everything from enrolment in our schools to access to arts and leisure activities,” Blaine said.

“We hope local business people will see the impact their role could have on an entire community and consider stepping up and bringing their voice to the Innisfail Board. In the end, the Chamber is a friendly group of people from your community. We’re your neighbours and your customers, and we’re doing what we can to encourage a strong local business climate.”
