It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonita “Bonny” Dianne Bellamy, who left us peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Big Valley, Alberta, Bonny lived a life full of adventure, compassion, and service to others.
Bonny was predeceased by her parents, Elsie Rowe (Paul) and Everett Anderson (Bobbi). She is lovingly remembered by her children: Wanda Bone, Sandra Bellamy, and John Hill (Tracy); her sister, Marina Matthes (Les); her grandchildren: Brandon Bone, Carter Hill, and Brynn Hill; her niece, Tracy Feschuk; her nephew, Kris Wold; her aunt, Thelma Ball, and many other extended family members as well as her beloved pups, Bella and Adira.
Bonny’s journey took her from Big Valley where she was born, to Federal and Conrich where she grew up. She later moved to Sexsmith and then north to Hay River, Northwest Territories. There, she earned her pilot’s license and worked as a matron for the RCMP, flying prisoners between Hay River and Yellowknife. She also served as an assistant to the magistrate for the NWT, contributing to the justice system with dedication and integrity.
In the early 1970s, Bonny relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for various companies. Her final role in Calgary was with the Alberta Golf Association, where she was a valued member of the team. Later, she moved to Bowden, Alberta, continuing her bookkeeping career until retirement.
Retirement didn’t slow Bonny down—in fact, it marked the beginning of a new chapter of service. She volunteered her time to help others with tax preparation and government applications, always advocating for those in need. Whether navigating complex paperwork or fixing a broken light switch, Bonny was always ready to lend a hand.
Bonny was deeply loved and will be missed by many friends and family. Her strength, generosity, and sense of humour left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
As per Bonny’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A Poem Bonny Kept and Loved
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work and play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savoured much;
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
*Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now; He set me free.
