Edna Eleanor Asmundson ( 1938-2025)
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Edna in Olds, Ab surrounded by her son Curtis and daughter Carla on September 9th , 2025.
Edna was born in Vita, Manitoba on July 1st, and what a celebration it was to her final days. Edna Mae, a nickname she chose for herself, was raised at a farm just out of Piney, MB with nine other siblings. Summers were spent picking blueberries, playing ball and the winters staying warm in a house full of love.
In 1956 Edna graduated and went to the big city of Winnipeg to work at the Bank of Montreal (for five years) from there she went to the Toronto Dominion where she worked for over 25 years. She worked hard and worked her way up until she was a Bank Manager and retired in 1993.
Edna was always the light of every crowd- from playing cards to late in the night, and back in the day when there were “phones” the prank calls she would play on family and friends. The jokes she would come up and the things she would say would have everyone in endless tears of laughter. Even in her last days she was joking with the nurses making them smile and being their favourite patient.
When she wasn’t making people laugh or drinking wine in her endless glass, she was out volunteering. Edna for years would spend her time volunteering for the cancer society, Salvation Army and thrift stores – always wanting to help others.
Edna’s presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy of love, compassion and resilience will live on in her family and the lives she touched
Edna loved her three children, but her proudest moments were spending time with her grandchildren Kendalin ( Codie), Colten ( Claudia), Keneen ( Kela) and Alexandra ( Davvaed). Edna was extra blessed with three great grandchildren- Jennings, Maeva and Addelin.
She is predeceased by her parents Carl and Annie, brothers Calvin, Edward, Earl and Gordon, sisters Lillian and Aldis as well as her three sweet baby daughters Chrystal, Candace and Christine.
She leaves behind three sisters Louise, Winnie and Grace of Manitoba and numerous of nieces and nephews.
Edna’s family extend heartfelt thanks to her care provides at the Acute ward in Olds, Alberta, especially to Whitney. An extra deepfelt thank you to Laurie Martin. Your kindness to mom, from bringing her coffee everyday, doing her laundry, making sure she was comfortable to just visiting with her, will never be forgotten – the family can never thank you enough.
She will be missed dearly by her son Curtis ( Tracey), daughter Carla (Clint) and son Cam. She will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness, sense of humour and quiet wisdom.
A celebration of life will be held in July the week of her birthday in Alberta.
