Margaret ‘Marge’ Jean Wells
1930-2025
On September 12, 2025, Marge passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms, Bonny, at Red Deer Regional hospital with one of her grandsons, Charles, who she fondly called Chuck, by her side, along with her niece Colleen Lamble, and the love of her life for the last 54 years George Hill.
She goes to heaven to reunite with her parents, Robert and Margaret Harkin; her brother Bob; and nephew Barry.
Marge was born in Lloydminster, Sk and spent her youth in the area of Kitscoty and Riley. She married had two sons Gerald and Jack and was widowed in the early 1960s. She met Harold in Innisfail, AB and that was where she gave birth to her daughter Bonny. She struck out on her own with her children and in 1966 she started working for Dr. Cecil Speirs at his Veterinary Clinic Ranch and that was where she met George in 1971. Marge and George moved to the Blindman River area in 1985 and enjoyed building the farm. Marge continued to enjoy working at the clinic with the farmers and the variety of animals until 1994, then finally retiring after 28 years.
Marge’s grandsons Charles, Roger, and Scott grew up and spent many wonderful weekends and summers on the farm. Roger and wife Amanda brought Marge’s great grandchildren Ayla, Jace, Mason, and Freya many times to experience the farm to both Marge and George’s delight.
Marge enjoyed many adventures traveling with George. They enjoyed the west country, horseback riding, rodeo’s, hunting and fishing. Marge enjoyed cooking and was always interested in trying a new recipe. Marge made pets out of many different animals over the years in her later years she loved her cats. She managed two sometimes three gardens and was known for her incredible green thumb.
Marge was unfortunately estranged from her sons Gerald and Jack along with their families. It was the only sadness she ever expressed.
The family gives many thanks Dr Mak and Dr Oje and all the wonderful nurses and staff that were compassionate and caring to the family during this sad time.
