1950 ~ David John Duncan Jahelka ~ 2025 "He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. As a born-again believer, we take comfort in the assurance that David has gone to glory to be with God. Here on earth, we search and pan for even the smallest flecks of gold—yet in heaven, David now walks the streets paved with gold so pure, they are translucent. He is at peace, resting in the everlasting arms of his Savior."

JAHELKA, David John Duncan
1950 – 2025
David John Duncan Jahelka went home to be with Jesus unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at
the age of 74, following a very brief illness. Born in Canmore, Alberta, on Monday, October 9, 1950, to
David and May Jahelka, David spent his early years on the banks of the Bow River, where he developed
a lifelong love of fishing. As a young man, he followed in his father’s footsteps and began working at the
Canmore Mine. Though an injury ended his time there, he often reminisced fondly about those days. David
met the love of his life, Faith, and the two were married on Saturday, August 21, 1976. They made their
home in Calgary, Alberta, where David completed his apprenticeship as an Ironworker and Welder—an
achievement he took great pride in. A proud member of Ironworkers Local 725, David was always eager
to share his skills, especially the art of the perfect weld. In his spare time, David enjoyed welding projects
and spent many cherished summers at the Nordegg Recreation Association Campground. He took care of
the grounds with joy and was always quick to lend a hand to fellow campers who needed help with their
sites. David also had a passion for baking, often creating a special list of goodies for others to enjoy. In
later years, he and Faith moved to Red Deer, Alberta, where they embraced a slower pace of life. David
will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and best friend of 49 years, Faith; his son Cory (Andrea);
and his cherished grandson Henrik. He is also survived by his brother Doug (Glo); sister Shirley (Ernie
Klem); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, David and May, and his sister
Jackie (Gary) Ashdown. David loved visiting and connecting with people and leaves behind many great
friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. As a born-again believer, we take comfort in the
assurance that David has gone to glory to be with God. Here on earth, we search and pan for even the
smallest flecks of gold—yet in heaven, David now walks the streets paved with gold so pure, they are
translucent. He is at peace, resting in the everlasting arms of his Savior. A Celebration of David’s Life
will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the family’s request to the
