HAYCOCK, Bud
1938 – 2025
Mr. Warren ‘Bud’ Blair Haycock of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the age of 87 years. Bud was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on April 17, 1938, and was raised in the small town of Griswold. He joined the Air Force in 1955, until he retired in 1978, and decided to start a painting company with his friend Vern Corbett. After sharing success in the painting industry, he worked with Lion Business Machines for approximately twenty years until he retired again. Bud loved to hunt and spend time with family at his secluded cabin out West of Caroline. Out at the cabin, Bud took every opportunity to teach his grandchildren survival skills, humourous nursery rhymes, how to drive standard vehicles, and how to chop and haul lumber deep in the woods. He was so familiar with the land that he knew every cut line, and the precise location of its wildlife. In the country, he was happiest. Bud was very generous to those he knew and loved, being known to frequently deliver chopped wood to his neighbours. And if he could make it to one of his grandkid’s ballgames or hockey games, he always did. Bud will be lovingly remembered by his son, George Haycock (Lisa); daughters, Catherine Fitzgerald (Don Dent), Donna Holt (Thomas), Darlene Heppner (Kevin), Rose McQuarrie (predeceased), and Denise Haycock (predeceased); his step-daughters, Kaye Obrigewitch (Mike), Cheryl Scammell, and Kjersti Campbell (Tim); his step-son Ken Rud (predeceased); his sisters, Georgina Joynt, and Marlene Compaign; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bud was predeceased by his loving wife, Claire; and his parents, Alfred ‘George’, and Jessie Haycock. A Celebration of Bud’s Life was held on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., at Parkland Funeral Home in Red Deer. If desired, Memorial Donations in Bud’s honour may be made directly to the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation at www.aiwc.ca.
