ANS, Lorraine
1933 – 2025
Lorraine passed away peacefully at Extendicare Michener in Red Deer, Alberta with her family by her side, at the age of 91. She is now at home with the Lord in heaven.
Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Howard, and her daughter, Lora Lea. She also leaves behind her brother, Jim; her sister, Nancy; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents; her older brother, Raymond; her niece, Barb; her nephew, Terry; her nieces Beverley and Debra; her nephews Gregory and Davey; and her cousins, Wilfred and Wanda.
Lorraine was born in Falun, Alberta, to Peter and Augusta Malmas. The family later moved north, where Peter found work, before settling in Lacombe, Alberta, where Lorraine completed her schooling. She worked first at a butcher shop and later at the Lacombe Experimental Farm. Lorraine met her beloved Howard at a dance in Gull Lake. They were married in 1957 and purchased their home in Central Park in 1959. Their daughter was born in 1960, and after some years at home, Lorraine returned to work at Union Tractor Ltd., where she remained until her retirement.
Lorraine was very active in the Central Park community, where she and Howard lived for 65 years. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed housekeeping, crocheting beautiful afghans (which she generously shared with family and friends), gardening, and working diligently at whatever she set her mind to. Lorraine and Howard hosted many Malmas family reunions in and around their Central Park home, where friends and family were always welcomed. These gatherings created lasting friendships and strengthened family bonds.
The family would like to thank her caregivers who cared lovingly for her in her days at Extendicare Michener. A memorial will be held at a later date.
