SEIB, Rhoda
1934 – 2025
Mrs. Rhoda Doreen Seib (née Gamble) peacefully passed into Heaven on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the age of 90. Rhoda was a strong woman who’s life was a beautiful testament to faith and family. Born on September 30, 1934 in Neelin, Manitoba to Elizabeth and William Gamble, Rhoda grew up with a heart for serving others Her teenage years in Flin Flon, MB sparked a passion for caring that led her to pursue a career in nursing. She received her nursing diploma from St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, and later moved to New York City, where she specialized in labour and delivery nursing. Rhoda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. After her time in nursing, she attended Bible School in Edmonton, AB, and reflection of her deep spiritual commitment. In 1962, she returned to Melville, Saskatchewan to care for her dying mother, a decision that marked a turning point
in her life. Shortly after returning home, she began dating the love of her life, Albert, and the two were married on October 26, 1963, beginning a life of faith, family and farming. In moving to the farm, Rhoda was never one to back down from hard work and long hours. In addition to the endless effort and details involved in raising five children, Rhoda worked tirelessly on the family dairy and grain farm – milking cows, gardening, cooking and baking for the family and those who visited. Rhoda and Albert relocated to Red Deer in the summer of 2018 after retiring from the farm. There, Rhoda quickly came to love her new home and cherished every visit from family and friends. Together, Rhoda and Albert built a home rooted in Christian values. Rhoda was actively involved in the Melville Pentecostal Tabernacle for many years, where she played piano, sang solos and duets, told children’s Bible stories and led worship. She played piano by note and by ear with remarkable talent, and many enjoyed her beautiful musical style and grace. Rhoda also worked alongside Albert as members of The Gideons, a Christian organization committed to the distribution of Bibles around the world. Beyond church and family, Rhoda enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, going for rides in the country and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grand-children. She also loved watching baseball and cheering on her favorite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Her presence was calm, her wisdom quiet but powerful, and her faith unwavering. Rhoda is survived by a loving family who is forever grateful for her life of love and endless prayers: Loving husband, Albert, Daughter, Rhonda (Murray) Gelowitz; Grandchildren: Braden (Carla) Gelowitz; Jordan Gelowitz (Fiancée, Paige Hewitt); Justin (Desiree) Gelowitz and great-grandchild Amaya.
