KIMBALL, Allan Joseph
1942 – 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Joseph Kimball of Sundre, Alberta, who passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the age of 82 years.
Allan was born October 10, 1942 and raised in Radville, Saskatchewan, and later moved to Regina after serving in the Navy. There, he worked for Coca-Cola and married his first wife, Connie.
At just 16, Allan joined the Navy at Canadian Forces Base in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia in 1959, where he was recognized for his skill in Morse Code and obtained a trade in electronics. His sense of adventure and strong work ethic led him to a career in seismic exploration, which took him overseas from 1970 to 1977. He lived and worked in Nigeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Somalia, and Egypt before settling in Alberta. Over the years, he called several communities home, including Trochu, Calgary, Hanna, and ultimately Sundre.
A lifelong Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, Allan’s enthusiasm for the team became a cherished family tradition. He was known for his generosity, always willing to help others without expecting anything in return.
In his later years, Allan enjoyed woodworking, home repairs, and tending to his yard. He took pride in staying active, often counting his daily steps, and always found a project to keep busy.
Allan was the proud father of five children: Kimberly, Kirby, Candace, Keegan (Angela), and Kaelon. He was a beloved grandfather to Shane, Shandalynn, Shawn, Michael, Samuel, Liam, and Kaylee, and a great-grandfather to Ayden, Autumn, Allianna, Abbey, and Asa.
He was predeceased by his children Kirby, Kaelon, and Candace, as well as his second wife, Chris.
Allan will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, generous spirit, tireless work ethic, and the many stories he loved to share about Radville, his seismic adventures, and life abroad. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but never forgotten.
As per Allan’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, the family will gather privately at a later date to celebrate his life.
