Mr. Lynn Kelly a long-time resident of the Cottonwood – Gordon Community passed away peacefully July 26, 2025 at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 82 years. Lynn was predeceased by his parents, Brian and Ethel (Llewellyn) Kelly, his stepmother, Mabel (Michiel) Kelly, and his daughter Andrea Kelly.
Lynn had three children with Barbara (Lewis) Kelly of Innisfail, Shannon (Tom) Layden, Andrea Kelly, and Jason (Beverley) Kelly, three grandchildren, Devan (Megan) Layden, Brianna Layden, and Kyla Kelly who all reside in the Red Deer County area and three great grandchildren; Jack, Charlie and Grace Layden, and a sister, Zoe Kitzul, as well as a special friend Gladys Smith, and her granddaughter Roslyn and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong group of friends who he considers his close family.
Lynn was very involved in various organizations throughout his lifetime. The Alberta Cattle Commission, Wild Sheep Foundation of Alberta, Alberta Fish and Game, Friends of the Eastern Slopes, 4H, and the Cottonwood – Gordon Ag Society.
Lynn had a passion for farming and he spent many years helping in the community, mentoring and passing on his wisdom.
Lynn will be fondly remembered as a great outdoorsman, hunter, and cattleman. He had a gift for telling a great story, and will be deeply missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing him.
