ALLEN, Richard
1947 – 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Allen, on July 22, 2025, at the age of 78 years, surrounded by his cherished family. Born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, on July 13, 1947. Richard resided in Thompson, Manitoba, for many years before settling in Red Deer, Alberta. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa, and a pillar of his community. Richard was a man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and sharp wit. He had a special gift for making people laugh — often through a perfectly timed joke or a playful jab — especially directed at those he loved most. His humor was never unkind; it was his way of showing connection and care. Above all, Richard was proudest of his family. He shared 47 years of love and partnership with his wife, Karen. He was a devoted father to his children Matt, Alissa (Chris), and Brendan (Monica), and a doting papa to his grandchildren Bentley, Ainsley, Brantley, and Paisley. His love for his family was steadfast and unconditional. He was always the first to show up, lend a hand, share his wisdom — or offer a quick, witty remark — and be present for every moment that mattered. A proud veteran, Richard served his country with honor as a Combat Engineer in the Canadian military. After his service, he continued building — not just structures, but relationships and trust — working as a project manager with Executive Home Building Center for 18 years, and later with True-Line Homes and Goodmen Roofing. For 47 years, Richard was a proud and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. As a sponsor and mentor, he helped countless individuals on their path to recovery. His commitment to sobriety and service was a testament to his compassion, strength, and deeply generous spirit. Richard touched many lives — around kitchen tables, in backyards with coffee cups in hand, and through the simple power of showing up with kindness, humor, and heart. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Grace, and his sister, Diane. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Wendy, Janice (Les), Donna (Rick), Greg (Sheree), and Cindy (Roy). As well as wife, Karen’s Siblings Donna (Lloyd), Dianne (Hugh), Connie (Jim), Lori (Alan), and Carol (Joe). Not to forget the many nieces and nephews whose lives he touched over the years. His legacy lives on in the lives he changed, the family he adored, and a community that will never forget him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Richard’s memory by performing a random act of kindness. A Celebration of Richards Life was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta, on Tuesday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m., with refreshments to follow.
