Karen Anne Costen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Anne Costen, who left us peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the Red Deer Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Karen was born in 1956 in Red Deer and dedicated her life to her family. Above all else, time spent with her loved ones was what brought her the most joy. She is survived by and was a devoted wife to Dennis, a caring mother to Derek (Nicole) and Cheryl (Ryan), and a cherished grandmother to four beloved grandchildren: Jesalyn, Levi, Brayden, and Taylor.  As well as her siblings Stu (Corinne) Krogman, Nancy (Kevin) Mooney and Al (Carol) Krogman.  Also her many nieces, nephews, friends, and all whose lives she touched.  In Heaven she joins her parents, Mary and Dick Krogman.

  Karen’s passions extended beyond her family, though. She loved golfing, curling, camping, and had a special connection with horses. She and Dennis enjoyed countless motorcycle trips together, exploring the open road and creating lifelong memories. Her beach and snorkel vacations, time spent with friends, and love of nature were also close to her heart. At home, Karen took great pleasure in caring for her pets, yard, numerous gardens, plants, and flowers, always tending to them with the same love she gave her family.

Karen’s strength, grace, and selfless love for those around her will be remembered by all who knew her. She touched so many lives with her joy, laughter, kindness, warmth, and unwavering support.

A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at CrossRoads Church on August 12th at 2:00 PM. We will have a luncheon to follow the service. All who knew Karen are invited to join her family in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.

Rest in peace, Karen. You will be deeply missed, and your love and spirit will live on in the hearts of your family and everyone who was fortunate enough to know you.
