William “Will” Kruithof
1933 – 2025
It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of William “Will” Kruithof , who died peacefully at the age of 92 from natural causes.
Born in the Netherlands in 1933, Will came to Canada as a young boy after the Second World War, escaping the Nazi occupation with his family and beginning a new life in a new land. The hardships of war left a lasting impression on Will and shaped his lifelong fascination with World War history. He was a man who never stopped learning and never lost his sense of curiosity.
Will had a deep love of the skies. Whether it was poring over tales of wartime pilots or following the adrenaline-fueled world of air racing, his imagination was always soaring. Closer to the ground, he had a fondness for the buzz of a good police scanner — always tuned in, always curious, always connected.
Will was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emma, who passed away just two years ago. Their love was a steady presence in the lives of those around them. Together, they raised three daughters — Ruby, Trudy, and Lena — all of whom married, had children, and carry forward their father’s quiet strength and boundless curiosity.
Will’s presence will be dearly missed, but his stories, his passions, and his legacy live on through his children and grandchildren. In his 92 years, he witnessed a world transformed and never lost his sense of wonder.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to sit quietly, listen to a story, or watch a plane trace its path across the sky — Will would have liked that.
