Sherri Lynne
February 14, 1967 – July 3, 2025
Sherri Lynne passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:15 a.m. in the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 58 years.
Born on Valentine’s Day in 1967 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Sherri was the daughter of Ruth Eggen (Brown) and Edwin Tricker. Raised by her mother on her Aunt Thelma’s farm, Sherri grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Alberta landscape. From a young age, she cherished the farm life, the animals, the nearby mountains, and the northern lights that danced across the sky.
Sherri attended school in Caroline, Alberta (Grades 1–11), and graduated from Eckville High School in 1985. Following her love for numbers, she pursued post-secondary studies at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton, graduating with an accounting degree. She later earned her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 1997.
After settling in Red Deer, Alberta, Sherri was blessed with two children: her daughter, Alexis Marrie Lynne Holmgren, and son, Austin Lucas Holmgren. Sherri’s pride in her children was immeasurable; they were truly the lights of her life.
A passionate traveler and lifelong adventurer, Sherri visited 11 countries and enjoyed many cruises and road trips across Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean. Sherri was drawn to the water from a very young age. Oceans, beaches, lakeshores, waterfalls, and riverfronts held a special place in her heart and brought her peace in her most difficult times. Her love for water led her to become a certified scuba diver in the 1990s, with her most cherished memories being dives off the beaches of Grand Cayman—her favourite place in the world.
Sherri’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children. Together with Alexis, her daughter and best friend, she co-founded the Red Deer & Area Geocachers group, blending her love of exploration with community. She was also an active member of the Red Deer Cruisers for many years. A gifted artist, Sherri channeled her creativity into both paper and digital scrapbooking. Her talent and passion earned her positions on several Creative Teams, including the GingerScraps Creative Team.
Sherri fought a remarkably brave battle with several rare and life-threatening illnesses. A survivor of sudden cardiac arrest, she became a passionate advocate for others living with rare diseases, implanted defibrillators, and heart conditions. Her voice offered strength and hope to many across the world, always emphasizing the importance of quality of life and truly living—not just surviving.
Sherri will be lovingly remembered by her children, Alexis and Austin; her mother, Ruth Marie Eggen; sisters Jeanette and Wendy; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her older sister, Wanda.
Sherri will be forever remembered for her strength, compassion, humour, creativity, and the immense love she had for her family and friends. Her absence is felt deeply, but her legacy of bravery, advocacy, and joy lives on in all who knew and loved her.
