Marilyn Kary
Born in Calgary, Alberta – August 17, 1936
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Kary, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Marilyn was born in Calgary, Alberta, and raised in Turner Valley, where her warm heart and lifelong commitment to community began.
In October of 1955, Marilyn married the love of her life, Harold Kary. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage until Harold’s passing in 2018. They began their family in Turner Valley, welcoming their children Linda, Wayne, and Murray, before moving to Sundre and eventually settling in Carstairs in 1959, where they built their home and community.
Marilyn worked at the Bank of Montreal for 25 years, where she formed many lasting friendships. She was known for her precision and professionalism, but more so for her kind and generous spirit. Outside of work, she was a passionate needleworker — lovingly referring to it as her “fancy work.” Her creations were admired for their immaculate detail and beauty, cherished by all who received them.
For over two decades, Marilyn volunteered with the I.O.D.E., serving as their treasurer, and her quiet dedication and integrity left a lasting impact on the organization and those she served alongside.
Marilyn is survived by her children Linda (Jim) Bell, Wayne (Sue) Kary, and Murray Kary; and by her beloved grandchildren Kerri Bell (Dallas, Texas), Jason Bell (Amie), Chloe Kary (Neufeld), and Laura Kary; great grandchildren Jorgia, Vienna, Theodore and Skyleigh. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, and her three sisters.
Marilyn will be remembered as the most loving, generous, and forgiving lady. Her gentle spirit and selfless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
