Donald Harold Bennett
April 19, 1934 – July 15, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Harold Bennett. Born to Donal and Lillian in Ochre River, Manitoba. Harold was predeceased by both his parents, his brother-Lloyd, daughter-in-law-Linda and his first wife of 49 years-Bernice.
Harold is survived by his sister Joy (Ron), his four children-Rick (Roxann), Brenda (Chuck), Barb (Randy) and Bryan (Tracy). Four Grandsons and One Granddaughter, 10 Great Grandsons, 3 Great Granddaughters, his brothers first wife Helen Bates and his current wife Gloria Bennett.
Harold is also survived by his extended family of his second wife of 15 years Helen Weisenburger, her three daughters, Debra (Wayne), Wanda (Gerald), Diane (Shawn) and 9 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Harold grew up in the Dauphin area, then moved to Red Deer Alberta in 1968 where he raised his family on his lifetime career as a mechanic. He was one of the finest and cleanest ever! He worked at Mohawk for many years before relocating to Calgary where he worked for AGT for many more years, Harold and Bernice moved to Elnora in 1991 to ease into retirement, however he was the town foreman for 10 years and he also worked for Jim Wood for a few more years before formally retiring at around 82!
Harold relocated to Helen’s home in Delburne when they married on May 22, 2010. They spent many enjoyable retirement years together camping, travelling, dancing and spending time with family whenever they had extra time.
They moved to Wanda and Gerald’s home at Buck Lake in July 2020 for some recovery time after multiple medical issues slowed them down. After recovery they moved to Winfield to West Pine lodge where Harold suffered a nasty fall and moved to Rimbey Care Center for the remainder of his life.
Harold loved his life, his families and his friends. He enjoyed golfing, camping, dancing, travelling and tinkering with and repairing everything from slow cookers to cars and combines.
He was a lifetime member of The Loyal Order of Moose, The Elks Lodge and The Royal Canadian Legion. He was an active member to all and really enjoyed all social events, friendships and wore his uniforms with great pride!
Harold never met a stranger and never had an enemy. He always had a helping hand to anyone in need, a calm demeaner, a great kindness and the best quiet sense of humor – If you didn’t pay attention, you would miss it!
Thanks to Wanda for her personalized care and the Rimbey Care Center, Unit 3 for your care and concern for our father was greatly appreciated.
Harold was loved and admired by everyone who knew him!
He will be greatly missed by his family’s and many friends.
BEST DAD EVER!
