It is with great sadness that the family of P. Eileen Neale announces her passing on July 4, 2025. Eileen is survived by her two children, Balf Armstrong and Laurie (Rene) Grande; grandchildren Allison, Alannah, Byron, Angus, and Sean; great-grandchildren Oscar and Sebastian; and by her sister Phyllis Armitage. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2007; sister Kay Drever; and by her brother Henry Armitage.
Eileen was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan in the December of 1931, to Robert and Pearl Armitage, the third of four children. Eileen moved to Red Deer as a child with her family, where she attended St. Joseph’s Convent. She later attended Hairdressing School in Edmonton, supported by her sister Kay Drever.
Eileen began her career as a hairstylist in Red Deer, eventually opening her first of many salons in the early 1970’s. Throughout her career, Eileen taught cosmetology at LTCHS and served on the Board of Examiners. Eileen would want us to express appreciation to her loyal customers, as well as her talented and dedicated stylists who made her career so long and enjoyable.
Eileen was an active member of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, an enthusiastic skier, and an adventurous traveler who cherished her snowbird years in Arizona with her husband John.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Timberstone Mews for their generous care and support to Eileen in her final years. A private graveside service was held on July 11, with immediate family in attendance. Condolences to Eileen’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “P. Neale” in the subject line.
