With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Peter Eric Guscott, who left us suddenly, on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the age of 70 years. Peter was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on March 27, 1955, to Catherine and William Guscott. He was the beloved husband of Sharon Ann Guscott (Slauenwhite) and a cherished brother to Bob Guscott (and his wife, Lynn) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; John Guscott (his wife, Helena), James Guscott, Patrick Guscott, and Michael Guscott, all of Kingston, Ontario; and MaryAnne Guscott (and her partner, Collin), also of Kingston. Peter also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Peter and Sharon met at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax in 1977 and were married on June 14, 1986. Peter had a fondness for cooking and worked in several kitchens over the years before discovering his true calling in Nursing. He graduated from Red Deer College with a diploma in Nursing in 2000 and went on to serve as a compassionate and dedicated nurse at the Red Deer Hospital. Peter was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Argonauts but truly loved many sports. A soft-spoken, introspective, and comforting soul, Peter found joy in the quiet beauty of the outdoors. He loved going on nature walks, always watching for hawks and eagles in the sky. One of his favorite hikes was the Big Beehive trail in Lake Louise, which he enjoyed alongside Sharon. Peter was a man of peace, drawn to learning about the wonders of Earth’s creation. He had a deep appreciation for science fiction and comic books and loved history. He embraced simplicity – spending time reading, sketching, playing chess, and being with Sharon. Growing up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Peter and his brothers shared countless adventures in the woods. One of their favorite spots was a single, marvelous rock they named “Cub rock,” surrounded by forest that became the setting of their childhood wonder. Peter expressed such joy when he recalled finally getting a special sister, “Mary”. He often spoke of the special bond they shared. During his years in Alberta, Peter cherished his special times with his brother, Pat. Those memories were extremely special to Peter, and he was so grateful to be able to have the Christmases together, playing chess, reminiscing, and countless hikes throughout the years. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong sense of love, and unwavering peace. Even in life’s hardest moments, Peter carried himself with quiet strength. His compassion and empathy touched countless lives, both personally and professionally. After the loss of his brother, Bill, to Multiple Sclerosis, Peter became a devoted supporter of the MS Society, a cause that remained close to his heart. Cremation has taken place, and a Private Celebration of Peter’s Life and the spreading of his ashes will be held at a later date, in both Nova Scotia and Alberta. In memory of Peter, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca or the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada at www.mscanada.ca. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
