Leduc man arrested by ALERT on sexual exploitation charges; six victims identified so far

A 49-year-old man from Leduc, Alberta has been arrested for allegedly targeting girls in the Edmonton area.

ALERT — the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams — and its Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit shared Wednesday that Campbell Ferguson faces 27 charges related to the investigation.

They also shared several online usernames he’s believed to have used with his victims.

The investigation began in April of this year following a report made through Cybertip.

It’s alleged Fergusson targeted girls, aged 15-16, in the Edmonton area, by using social media, including Snapchat. Investigators believe he would lure victims to meet in person to perform sexual acts.

Fergusson was arrested June 26; electronic devices were seized, including a smart phone and laptop.

“Our investigators and forensic technicians have successfully identified six victims linked to Mr. Fergusson, but this investigation doesn’t stop here. We have reason to believe there are more victims we have yet to identify as we discover images and videos on these devices,” said Det. Christine Sawatsky, ALERT ICE.

“We hope that by releasing his usernames, that more victims will be encouraged to come forward and speak with police. We have supports available, through partners like the Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, for anyone who does come forward.”

ICE says Fergusson may be known to his victims under the usernames ‘burkeishere2525’, ‘devonhouston25’, ‘keenonhedstrom’, ‘treyliles2424’, or by his pseudonym, Burke.

He faces the following charges:

• make child pornography x6
• possess child pornography x6
• luring a child x6
• communication for the purpose under 18 x6
• making sexually explicit material available to a child x2
• transmit child pornography

Fergusson remains in custody and has a court appearance scheduled for July 3.
