“Treasured Son, Beloved Husband, Devoted Father,
Cherished Brother, and Loyal Friend.”
In Loving Memory of Simon Neil Orford, Treasured Son, Beloved Husband, Devoted Father, Cherished Brother, and Loyal Friend.
“I said G’day”
It is with broken hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Simon Orford in Houston, Texas, who left this world far too soon on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the age of 52 years. Simon was a devoted son to his mother, Gae and a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Pansa (Be) and a deeply loving father to their precious five-year-old daughter, Vanessa, the shining light of his life. Simon often said that his greatest joy was found in the laughter of his little girl and the love shared within the walls of their beautiful home in Thailand. Simon was truly happy. Friends were very important to him, and he cherished his long conversations with each of them. Simon will always be remembered for his kindness, good heart, sense of humour, and a man of his word. He enjoyed so many things, such as building trucks with his dad, racing diesel trucks, cruising on his Harley, having friends and family over for food and fun and spending hours in the pool with Vanessa, and what a great swimmer she has become. He was a dedicated oilfield worker for his entire career. “In a line of work that demands trust, resilience, and camaraderie, Simon represented the very best of the oilfield. He will be remembered not just for how well he did his job, but for the spirit he brought to the crew. Steady, positive and generous, he made our team stronger. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory stays with us. Strong, proud and lasting”. Simon’s passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him, and is lovingly remembered by his mother, Gae Orford, his wife, Pansa (Be), his daughter, Vanessa and his three sisters, Jackie McMillen, Lenora Roy and Toni Gellings. Simon was preceded in death by his father, John ‘Jake’ McMillen in 2024. Simon’s family would like to thank everyone who has reached out with support and shared memories that reflect the kind of person he truly was. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the lives he touched will live on in all of us, especially in little Vanessa, who carries his heart in her smile. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend the Memorial Service, please go to www.parklandfuneralhome.com and click on the Live Stream button just prior to 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Simon’s honor may be made directly to your local animal shelter.
