Ponoka to open new disc golf course

Ponoka is set to welcome residents to its brand new disc golf course with a grand opening June 14.

The event runs 12-2 at Riverside Rotary Park with free BBQ, tips on how to play, a ceremony, and as a bonus, coffee with council, which is where residents can give input ahead of the 2026 budget.

The disc golf course, as the town notes, came to fruition following a $15,000 donation from Ponoka Arts, Recreation & Cultural Society (PARCS).

“The course will be a space for casual play and organized events, offering a unique recreation opportunity and a place for people to connect,” said Amanda Henderson-Kada, PARCS board chair.

“It’s a sport that’s easy to learn yet challenging to master. The game appeals to everyone, from families looking for outdoor fun to avid enthusiasts seeking a competitive edge.”

The course will open in early June, ahead of the grand opening, and it will be announced at Ponoka.ca, as well as on social media.
