It is with great sorrow that I announce the death of Bruce Frederick Maximchuck on October 31st, 2024.
Bruce was born at the Saint Boniface Hospital on February 20th, 1963, to William and Edna Maximchuck. Throughout his life, Bruce lived in many places in Alberta and Manitoba but finally settled down in Red Deer.
Two of his favorite things were cars and music, and you could get him to talk for hours about either one. The day he brought his red Mustang home was one of his happiest moments. Bruce enjoyed being part of a nostalgia race team for a brief while and was happy to get behind the wheel for a pass or two. Of course he was a Ford man just like his father. He loved being a parts man, both behind the counter and on the road, and his clients loved him and his sense of humor.
Bruces health began to deteriorate in the mid 2000’s and he could no longer work in the automotive industry. He went back to school but was unable to return to the workforce. Instead, he threw himself into music. Many hours of each day were spent in his workshop fixing, making and customizing instruments. He began by making cigar-box instruments and then moved on to making and customizing guitars. His favourites were his telecaster style guitars, but he loved them all. He would also take broken guitars to fix and set-up for people who couldn’t afford them otherwise. He enjoyed playing music with his creations and loved the blues especially.
In the last 10 years of his life, Bruce suffered from a serious chronic disease, and although he was in pain almost constantly, he continued to show his sense of humor, compassion and his generosity to everyone around him.
Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his common-law wife Jennifer (Edmunds), his sister/brother in-laws Darlene and Randy Molleken, his beautiful daughter Kristin and her husband Devin Morin, his wonderful grandchildren Eden and Liam, his sister Marilyn, and numerous other brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and William and Edna Maximchuk. Per Bruces wishes there will be no memorial service. All that he would ask is that you do something charitable or kind in his memory.
If desired, donations can be made to guitarz for kidz in Red Deer, or Lupus Canada.
