WHITE, Barclay
1953 – 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Barclay Allan White, who died peacefully, surrounded by his family, in Red Deer, Alberta, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the age of 71 years. Barclay was born on June 9, 1953, in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a deep dedication to his family and community.
Barclay was a man of quiet strength whose intense love for his family, friends, and his work left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, thoughtful conversations, and willingness to help others whenever needed. Barclay’s life was a testament to his strong values and sense of duty whether it was in his personal life, his professional endeavors, or his involvement in local community activities which were plentiful over the years.
Throughout his life, Barclay was an avid sports fan competing in curling, baseball, hockey, and his most beloved golf game which he shared with many family and friends. In 1979, he became the Esso agent at B.A. White Fuels and Fertilizers in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, before moving the family to Red Deer in 1992, when he became the owner and operator of Esso Parkland Distributors Inc. for the next twenty-two years. Upon selling his Esso business in 2001, he returned to the Agriculture Industry becoming the top salesperson in Canada in small Equipment Sales for Case IH Future Ag. Barclay and Renee opened Harmony Care Homes in 2004, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to those at end of life for over a decade. A journey that spoke to their collective will to serve others in their greatest times of need.
Community service was an instrumental part of Barclay’s life, serving many different organizations he felt passionate about over the years. Notably, he was an off-ice Official for the Red Deer Rebels for twenty-seven years, a role he took on with tremendous pride. He also served on many boards including Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, Red Deer Golf and Country Club, Westerner Park, and Chairman of Agri-Trade. Barclay volunteered on numerous committees hosting the World Junior Hockey Championships, World Junior Curling, and the Brier, and was a former member of the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club and the Red Deer Rotary Club.
Barclay was a profoundly proud man who loved his family deeply. His love for Renee was unwavering as he often told his children, “The best decision I ever made was marrying your mother.” He was a steadfast role model for his family, instilling values of family support, hard work, and the importance of treating others well.
Barclay will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Renee, his four children, Matthew (Kimberly), Allison (Glen), Clarke (Trisha), Adrienne (Monica), and his nine grandchildren, Joel, Daine, Josh, Brooke, Olivia, Leah, Liam, Cleo, and Remy. He will also be sadly missed by his father, Jim, and his brothers, Jamie (Janet) and Ron (Lori), as well as his numerous nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will miss his presence dearly. Barclay was predeceased by his mother, Anne.
Barclay’s legacy of a strong love for family and generosity will continue to live within all who knew him.
