Special Weather Statement remains in effect for Red Deer and surrounding areas

Wintry weather is returning to Alberta this week.

Officials with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) say to expect winter travel conditions from tonight, March 26, to Friday across central Alberta.

Heavy wet snow is expected to begin this evening over parts of western Alberta, intensifying Thursday.

ECCC expects the heaviest snowfall to stay north of Red Deer and Stettler, but up to five centimeters is still expected in those regions.

Regions farther south may not see any snow, however, ECCC says there is still uncertainty in the trajectory of the storm, so warnings may be adjusted as it unfolds.
