Mar 17, 2025 | 1:48 PM

A Red Deer man has been arrested for alleged dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after it collided with a snow bank in Slave Lake.

At about 9 a.m. on March 14, Slave Lake RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle that had allegedly collided with a snow bank in the Main Street area.

Police report locating a dark coloured SUV which fled when they arrived and reportedly caused damage to a nearby business.

The Slave Lake Crime Reduction Team was then recruited to covertly follow the vehicle from a distance to mitigate risk to the public, as the suspect is said to have been driving in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop along Highway 2, leading to the safe arrest of a 35-year-old man from Red Deer.

The individual has been charged with:

  • Operate vehicle while prohibited
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
  • Mischief over $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The suspect was taken before a justice of the peace and then released on a Release Order. He is scheduled to appear in court on Apr. 9 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake.
