The federal government has announced a grant for the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association.

The $1,607,291 over three years is meant to help find ways to reduce injuries and improve farm safety through things like on-farm resources, training programs and awareness campaigns.

A news release from the federal government says that one idea will be providing safety education materials to kids, along with coming up with a youth agricultural safety week.

The grant comes ahead of Canadian Agricultural Safety Week. It will run from March 16 to 22.

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association says this week is held every year in the third week of March.

There are different themes for every day of the week this year, starting with Ag. Mental Health Day on Sunday the 16th.

After that comes Investing in Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Rail and Road Safety, Grain Safety, Women in Ag. and Health on the Farm.

The safety association says on its website that it is offering its online training at no cost throughout March.
